・Summary

Solicitude for Orphans Children Support Group{SFOCSG} is a non-profit, non-party in politics, established in August, 2002 and registered in Kenya under The Ministry of Gender, Sports, Culture & Social Services on 20th July, 2004 as a Community Based Organization{CBO}
located in the Soweto slums in Kayole-Nairobi, Kenya. The informal settlement of Soweto is approximately 25 kilometers east of commercial center of Nairobi. It is situated at Embakasi Division in Nairobi’s Eastland’s area. Areas characterized by lack of basic services, lack of land tenure and semi-permanent housing. It covers an area of 1 square kilometer, and is home to over 300,000 people.

We believe that people are the reason for and the means through which development can be achieved. Unless communities or groups of people are aware of their roles and rights, they are not in a position to bring about change. The past experiences of these populations have shaped
how they relate to the context of today. If this process is carefully studied, we can understand why certain situations are now in place. So in SFOCSG, we have put huge amounts of resources into in-depth studies of the communities we work with.

We believe public education is the cornerstone of our republic. Public education provides individuals with the skills to be involved, informed and engaged.
