Spirituality is not a story that conveys any one category of things, but the truth contained in all things. That is not easy to convey.
We need to build a foundation for human thought and sensitivity. We are talking about the mechanics of it, and that cannot be established only in one's own world.
It is a very tough story for people, and they need to know their own immaturity in relation to self and others. Knowing the truth does not mean that the self alone is superior to others.
Rather, it means that by knowing the story of the big world, one learns of one's own smallness, is moved to be a part of the beautiful and magnificent world, and carefully and steadily builds on what is familiar.
That, for a person, is what studying is all about. You cannot abandon studying and grasp the truth. It also means knowing how to behave and communicate with others. That, too, requires time, humility, and study.
Humility is not something you can create. If you cannot be humble, it means you do not have enough experience. It is not something you can acquire by knowing the truth in your head. It requires living and knowing many things. The pursuit of truth is not a place to be where you retreat into your shell.
We must stop trying to make ourselves look good by acquiring skills only. If we use spirituality as a place to escape our self, we are in the wrong end.
