1. The Direction of Current Intelligence Research
In recent years, intelligence research has increasingly attempted to understand human intelligence by analyzing the performance and behavior of artificial intelligence. The objects of such research include text generation, reasoning, recognition, control, behavioral prediction, and other functions through which intelligence appears externally. This trend is not limited to engineering. It has also spread into cognitive science, neuroscience, and psychology.
What supports this development is the fact that artificial intelligence learns from a scale of knowledge that no single human being could handle alone. The accumulation of knowledge developed over long periods of human history, knowledge from other countries, and traces of descriptions and judgments across multiple fields makes it possible for structures and tendencies invisible to an individual human being to emerge. Current intelligence research attempts to understand human intelligence by using these newly observable structures as clues.

2. The Problem Addressed in This Paper
This has significant implications for the understanding of human intelligence. Human beings themselves also contain vast accumulations within. Memory, experience, language, sensation, and traces of judgment exist in great quantity within each person. Yet human beings have not had sufficient means to observe them as a large-scale accumulation. As artificial intelligence begins to handle vast bodies of knowledge and observe what arises within them, new conditions have emerged for asking about the internal structure and generation of human intelligence.
However, one problem arises here. What current intelligence research primarily addresses is the function after it has already appeared. Text generation, reasoning, recognition, and control are all important manifestations of intelligence, but they are also phases that have already come into being. Therefore, it is necessary to ask, at the methodological level, what becomes clear by treating these phases with precision, and what still remains unaddressed.
3. Two Questions
This paper raises two questions. First, can human intelligence be understood through the current order of intelligence research? Second, does improving functions such as text generation, reasoning, recognition, and control directly amount to improving the performance of intelligence itself?
The first question concerns the understanding of human intelligence. It asks whether analyzing and describing manifested functions with precision can capture the very formation of human intelligence. The second question concerns performance improvement. It asks to what extent the improvement of particular functions coincides with the improvement of intelligence itself. This paper treats these two questions separately.
4. The Perspective of This Paper
The perspective of this paper is to examine what current intelligence research takes as its object, what sequence it follows, what becomes clear through that method, and what still remains. Artificial intelligence research has opened a field in which we can observe what emerges from the accumulation of large-scale knowledge. However, what is primarily examined there is the function after it has already appeared.
What this paper asks about is the formation of human intelligence prior to that appearance. How does meaning arise? How does judgment come into being? How does it flow into expression and action? Unless this process is included, limits will remain both in the understanding of human intelligence and in the improvement of intelligence performance. This paper methodologically examines this point and shows the necessity of rethinking human intelligence from the perspective of the process of generation.
